> I am answering to the job description on savannah.gnu.org by skypher. That's me. > This is acctually my first approach to an open-source project so > please don't mind if I am not applying in the expected way. Your way of application certainly met my standards :) > As skyphers description is somehow rather unspecific. It is unspecific because there is work for people with all kinds of skill levels. The only hard requirement is, as said in the job description, knowledge of C. You should also know how to produce a unified diff and how to work with Subversion. > As I mentioned this is my first approach to a project and I don't really > know what to expect, What to expect: - we will select tasks that you are interested in and that will enhance your skills in the best way. - you will start coding and ask me or the list questions if the need arises. - you will send patches of your code (need not be complete) to the mailing list for review by others. > Obviously it would take me a while to get acquainted with this project. Of course. I only hope that you won't give up or lose interest in the course of your research, as so many others have done. GNU Parted has an exceptionally well designed API and features (in most places) state-of-the-art C coding in both structure and style. My work on the project has improved my C programming considerably.
