The tarcat utility concatenates several GNU tar
multi-volume
archives into a single archive. It could be useful if you have a multi-volume
archive in old GNU format with some members split between the volumes, and need
to extract them, using a third-party tar implementation.
The program is a simple shell script: tarcat.
Refer to tarcat documentation for the detailed discussion of the utility and its usage.
The process of recovering split members from various types of multy-volume archives is discussed in detail in the GNU tar documentation.
