Denis used the "Laughing Cow" (La vache qui rit) as a starting point for this artwork.
He decided to create "The

<p>Denis created “The smiling gnu" (Le gnu” <cite>(Le gnou qui sourit). sourit)</cite>
on the model of “The Laughing Cow” <cite>(La vache qui rit)</cite>.
Many people will recognize the origin of this artwork. It's all about french a French
cheese in small round boxes. The English title of this work comes from "From (From a GNU Linux" inferred from GNU/Linux) is
phonetically similar to the french French title "Fromage GNU/Linux" <cite>“Fromage
GNU/Linux”</cite> (Cheese GNU/Linux).</p>
