Use 'GNU

“GNU's Not Unix” curves above, and “Free Software Foundation” borders below in this Lisp-like statement about GNU. Two “parentheses” formed by curved, dancing GNUs form a pseudo-Lisp program: (USE 'GNU).

The dancing GNU parentheses were drawn by Etienne Suvasa. They are part of the cover art for the GNU Emacs Lisp Reference manual.

The rest of this art was designed by the FSF staff for the 1996 GNU T-shirt.

[FSF logo] “Our mission is to preserve, protect and promote the freedom to use, study, copy, modify, and redistribute computer software, and to defend the rights of Free Software users.”

The Free Software Foundation is the principal organizational sponsor of the GNU Operating System. Support GNU and the FSF by buying manuals and gear, joining the FSF as an associate member, or making a donation, either directly to the FSF or via Flattr.
